Good morning,

Has anyone else experienced a problem with the following update: Security
Update for Windows XP x64 Edition (KB973869)
Automatic Updates has been reporting since yesterday that I need to install
this so I go through the process and I am told this install completes fine.
However around an hour later I receive the windows auto update sheild icon
in my system tray again or my AV highlights it.
I have installed this now many, many times without resolution.
Have tried a full AV scan, just incase, no problems.
Any help greatly appreciated.
many thankss, Damian.

Hello Damian,

This issue may occur if one of the system files is corrupted or if it has
not been updated correctly.

Personally was upset at this monotony which lasted about 2 restarts until
finally went to http://Microsoft.com and searched for the manual update
download found here:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=d04a6959-41a4-4a87-b3ad-7455d8fe8b99#tm

It now shows up in the add or remove programs with show updates box above
selected, though it does not appear there are any further updates needed
though xp pro now sits with only sp2 and the choice of av I prefer (McAfee)
does not allow their install engine to touch anything earlier than sp3???

I also have a question which I will add here since having not tried to reset
the wuauserv since can not find the xpsp3 64bit version, or does it not exist
yet?

Kind of ironic all the hype about 64bit technology being such an improvement
in speeds that the updates seem should be up to speed as well... :'(

Lastly, though it seem like a big request since office 2010 is prolly just
around the corner... Why hasn't there been a Office 2007 64bit yet??
Everything else Exchange 2007 etc. was exclusively 64bit though office lagged
behind, now running xp Pro, Vista biz, ultimate, and Win 7 RC all 64bit but
still reduced to the 32 bit version of office for all! Boo Hiss
