hi,

how do you format HD in Vista.. I searched in HELP section.. these are
entries in results:

How often do I need to be concerned with formatting disks?
What do I need to do to format a hard disk?
What file system should I use?
What's a quick format?
What are partitions and volumes?
How do I create more partitions?
How do I add a new hard disk?

under 2nd entry it says something like you need to create partitions
first, then format each partition, this is RETARDED.. (ah yes, nothing
with Vista is simple.. as soon as I have money I will purchase Windows
XP, and ditch Vista for good...) in any other OS you right-click on
drive you want to format and then hit "format" -- that's it... of
course with Vista everything has to be so complicated...

thank you...

So dipshit, you want others to do the work for you. How about bringing up a
browser (if you don't know how to do that task, ask a kid) then google the
sentences you are asking about. Is that to much trouble?

You have a very good help file in Vista under "Disk Management" that should
answer most of your questions. To get to Disk Management click "Start" then
RIGHT click on "Computer" this will open a context menu from that menu click
on "Manage" answer the UAC prompt. The "Computer Management" window will
open. In the folders column that open under the heading "Storage" click on
the "Disk Management" when the main windows is showing all your Drives look
at the top menu bar and click on "Help" then chose "Help Topics" another
window opens and under the Contents Tab you will see a + sign next to "Disk
Management:Welcome" click on the + sign and study all the files. If you
should have any more questions google will be a great friend.
For more information continue to read below and follow the links so you can

When you become more familiar with the terminologies that are used for these
type operations your wanting to know about, then it may become less
confusing for you.

This is Just something you *missed or over looked*. You can still Right
Click the drive you want and the context munu offers you among other choises
*Format...* and Im sure it works as well as XPs give it a try.
IMO Vistas Dismanagement is somewhat better and easer to use than XPs.

Good luck

Get the fukk out of here and delete all instances of Vista, burn the
disk(s) and forever use XP.
Vista is simply beyond your very limited computer capabilities.

Maya don't mind Frank, he is not real bright. Mr. Brown gave some good tips
on how to do this in Vista. You still have the options to right click on the
hard drive to format etc. in Vista as you do in XP.

yep, I have known that for a long time now.. (ever since I've had the misfortune of
using this incredibly shoddy piece of sw that passes for an OS....Wink

actually the reason I needed to reformat my HD is that -- since Vista is a such a
GREAT OS that needs re-install every few months -- I needed to re-install Vista, and
I wanted to make sure my HD got formatted first.. but I found a way to do this
during the re-install..)

thank you...

That's funny, seeing as how Vista is the very best OS available today
and is successfully used by millions.

That is sheer unadulterated BULLSHIT!

Obviously you have no idea what you're doing.

Well DUD!
My question to you is WTF are you doing to your computer that you think
you need to "reinstall" Vista every few months?
Care to explain?
Well...or is this beyond your technical and intellectual capabilities?

what am **I** doing to my computer??? well Frank, here it is: one day out of the
blue the remote control won't work anymore, so I can't watch movies anymore (and
can't use it for Rhapsody and slide shows and other stuff..) another day the
microphone stops working, so I can't use Skype anymore, which means I can't call my
family anymore (they're all outside the U.S..) one day Vista stops reading ALL
THREE of my external hard drives.. short of a re-isntall of Vista NOTHING has
solved these problems (not attempting to re-install drivers for these devices or
anything else..)

I have posted here numerous times about these problems, nobody has ever posted a
solution that's an alternative to having to re-install Vista.. Vista has the
problem that many of the system files get corrupted, often, and very easily, and the
only way to solve this is to re-install Vista...

since you seem to think that of course, heaven forbid, there can be NOTHING wrong
with Vista, it's just me who doesn't know what I'm doing.. just so you know, I've
been using computers since 1981; I have used lots of different machines, both at
work and at home, I've used macs and pc's, I have used Windows 3.1, Windows 95,
Windows 98, Windows 2000, Windows XP, and now Vista... and I have NEVER, I mean
ABSOLUTELY NEVER, had the kinds of problems -- and the AMOUNT of problems -- w/an OS
as I've had with Vista...

I don't know what your motivations are, Frank.. you hang out on this group only to
insult folks who have problems with Vista.. if you think Vista is such a good OS,
why don't you change your approach a bit and try to be more HELPFUL instead of
insulting to folks who have problems with Vista? why don't you try to CONVINCE
folks that Vista is not as bad as they think by HELPING them a bit instead of
insulting them?? because you know, your slash-and-burn approach only EMPHASIZES
what a lousy OS Vista is...

there's NOTHING I want more than to ditch Vista, and I will do so as soon as I can
purchase XP...
