Who is the computer manafacturer and the model? (example, HP Pavilion
dv6-1128TX)

What hardware has been installed recently if any?
Did you make any changes or 'tweaks' to your settings recently?
How old is the computer?
Are there any unusual beep codes?
Any errors (HDD/Memory specifically) ?
Have you flashed the B.I.O.S recently?

This information would be extremely helpful.

Here are just some things I would try:

Turn on the computer. When you see the computer manufacturers logo or text
saying "Press XXXX to enter setup" (replace XXXX with key name) , press that
key to go there. Now you'll have to look for an option to 'load fail safe
defaults' or 'load setup defaults'. Select this and press enter. Exit.

WARNING: Do NOT, I repeat NOT, change anything unless you are absolutely
100% sure that you know what you are doing. The BIOS controls the hardware in
the computer such as the video, sound, hard drive, memory, USB, and so on.

Good luck.

Hello,

Any display? If there is no display and no short 'beep' sound, it is a
hardware issue. It can be a loose RAM connection, video card, spoilt video
card, spoilt RAM, power supply, motherboard, etc.

If you are not comfortable opening up your system, it is best is to bring
your system to your nearest qualified repair shop and let them diagnose it.

many processes are
involved when a pc
boots up and we cannot
see what processes have
not occurred in your case.

so, the first process that
takes place is powering
up your computer.

and then you get a green
light.

then you get a red light and
you are stuck.

do you see anything on the
screen before the red light
appears?

try entering the bios for
you computer.

check you computer manual
or the home site for your
machine to find out how.

sometimes holding down the
f2 key or the del key as soon
as the green light comes on
will initiate the bios setup.

let us know what you get.
