Which technology does the modem connect to the PC ? Ethernet or
USB. If USB you may want to switch to a Ethernet connection to a
Wired Ethernet card/port on your PC. USB isn't the ideal way to get
a Broadband connection especially if you have higher speed.
It's unusual for a Ethernet connected Access device to cause any kind
of Boot delay, since it likely uses DHCP IP assignments.
It might help if you could re-post with the vendor/product name of the
Anti-Virus/Firewall software. Some are not good choices as they can
cause severe performance loss on the PC. Free isn't always best.
