Win7 on new built system

I am building a new Computer and I plan to do a clean install of Windows 7
onto it. Can I buy the upgrade copy of Windows7 or do I have to buy the
full copy? I have the Windows XP CD.

Answer these two questions:

1) Is your copy of Windows XP an OEM licensed copy or retail licensed copy?
2) Is your copy of Windows XP installed on any machine currently?
