When I had first installed MS Office I was asked if I wanted to use
Microsoft Automatic Updates to find updates for the program and I chose
yes. Today I uninstalled MS Office 2007 in favor of a different program.
However, there are 11 updates that Auto Update keeps insisting I install
for MS Office even though MS Office is no longer on my system! How do I
tell the computer that it should stop trying to update MS Office??

Hi Seijun, those are optional updates which are not recommended for your
computer. you can delete the *software distribution *folder from
*c:\windows\system32\SoftwareDistribution folder*. It contains all the
updates packages. *delete *the folder and restart the computer. OR
just to be on a safer side, *take ownership* of this folder and then
rename the folder as *SoftwareDistribution.old *and then create a new
folder named *SoftwareDistribution* and restart the computer.
then run windows update.Wink
