Hi All

I have been using Windows XP for a while, recently i tried to install a
clean version of Vista. All goes well until after I enter the product
key. It comes to a screen where i must select a drive for partitioning.
However it will not let me and I really have no clue why. I recieve the
error below!

-"windows is unable to find a system volume that meets its criteria for
installation"-

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks in advance for any help

P.S I really am an amateur on PC's so please help with easy to follow
step by step instructions if possible :-p

Hi,

I can think of two possible issues:

1) You need a sata driver from the motherboard manufacturer.

2) You have a hardware raid setup in the system bios and need an appropriate
driver.

The more likely answer is (1), and what it means is that there is no native
driver in Vista for the hardware you are installing on.

Is there a partition on the drive? Did you try a quick format, although
you should not need to? Check the Disk options to see if you need to
designate something.

Is it possible that an upgrade disk is being used?
If so, the previous OS has been erased.

Thanks for the reply

Yes I installed Vista Correctly, but then repeated the installation to
see if I could free up space on my hard drive, when i came to the option
of partitioning again I formatted the drive I previously used, which
caused the error (previous message).

I hope my explanation makes sense :-s

If your suggestion is your preferred method of chouce, what steps do
you think I could take to see if it works?
