Post subject: Update one workbook based on another workbook from a part number?
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>excel (more info?)

Hello,

I have a Excel workbook call "Parts Catalog" that shows the following
example:

Description Part# Amount
Book 1458 23.00
Pen 3459 125.00
Note Pad 8943 35.00

I have another Excel workbook that will contain amounts that have changed,
the description and part# will be the same. This workbook is call "Updates".
Since there is about over 500 rows and not all the rows will need to be
updated. I manually update the "Parts Catalog" per week about 30 to 35
items. Is there a way that I can have the "Parts Catalog" amount updated
(automatically) based on the Part# from the "Update" workbook? Any tips
will be appreciated. Thank you in advance/

Cheers

I have a couple of ideas milling around. Let's see what the Excel
gurus come up with and maybe a collaboration is in order.

Alex:
It's been a couple of days and I see that no one else has responded.
Are these separate Excel books or are they different sheets in the
same book?

I have a solution for you. Are you Excel friendly?

Just email me directly if you want my help and we'll take the
discussion private. It's going to get involved.
