Hi

With Xp Pro and and IDE mobo box I have attached a sata 500 GB drive to
a few USB ports and whilst the 3 prong tray shows, it goes away and does
not load the drive.

What could cause this please.

Found it!

The 'new' data cable was no good. Tried an old one I had and bimbo!!

Just shopws.. always, always always, check the cable before trying other
time consuming things..
