Switchboard Oddity

I have been attempting to use the Switchboard Manager in Acess 2003,
following the usual instructions, with the following odd results:

1) When I look at the switchboard in design view, the text in all the
object title boxes is invisible. If I touch one, a white rectangle appears in
which I can edit the invisible text.

2) A title appears at the top of the page, based on the database name, but
it disappears when I try to edit it. When I move this text box--I am assuming
it is a text box--there is another underneath it, with the same text in a
different colored font.

Am I misreading the nature of these boxes?

nope, that's how access makes them automatically.

1) the reason the text is "invisible" for the title boxes, is because
Access builds those dynamically from the "Switchboard Items" table it
creates automatically. you'll see if you edit the text in design
view, and then open the it in form view, your changes are gone. It is
meant to only be edited in the Switchboard Manager function (or you
can edit the Switchboard Items table if you know what you are doing).

2) the text box with another text box underneath of it, just gives
the main title a "shadow" type effect. access is trying to be
aesthetic. these textboxes can actually be edited and it will save
your changes.
