Is there a way that I can reset the timer in the Presenter view to zero -
perhaps with a macro?

Reason: I wish to have my title slide displayed for a while before the
session starts but I wish to start the timer manually when I actually begin
to speak.

Environment: PPT2007 running under XP (SP3)

TIA
Chris

Chris,

Why not just have its' time set to advance on mouse click, the others to set
times?

Hi Glen,
I don't follow what you are suggesting. Could you please clarify. I must be
having a senior day!

Hi

Right click on slide 1| Slide Transition| On Mouse Click
Slide 2, automatically after what ever time you set

When you run it, the first slide will sit there until you click. Then the
timings will take over.

Ah!
Not what I was wanting to achieve!
I don't want the slide changes to be automatic. I want to see how much time
has elapsed since I started to speak.
The visible clock in presenter mode screen starts from zero as soon as you
display the first slide on the Slide view (projected) screen.
My first slide is the title slide and I want to display that as the audience
assembles. When I start the presentation proper (ie move to slide 2) then I
want to set the displayed (on the presenter's screen) clock back to zero so
that I can see just how log I have been actually speaking.

cheers
Chris

I don't think this can be done in PowerPoint Chris

One way is to use a third party timer. A google should help. I know
"TimeLeft" will do this but it is not necessarily the best just the one I
happen to have! You can even place it over the existing timer!

But on the Presenter's screen in Presenter view?

That complicates things a wee bit.

Hmm. A while back, Shyam posted some code for restarting a presentation. I
wonder if that might be a workable solution.

Start the show, let it sit on the intro slide.
Click a hidden button that fires the macro when ready to start.
Macro stops/restarts the presentation and away you go with the timer reset.

Not sure how much of a blink effect this would produce though. With luck,
very little.

Thanks for that thought.
I have tried out TimeLeft and it can be moved to the Presenter screen
(actually it appears there first of all) so that is a good workable option.
cheers
