Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windowsxp>hardware (more info?)

Hi,

I have XP OS and have used a Dell PC with USB keyboard and USB mouse for
many years without a problem. This afternoon I installed an HP utility for a
printer which I later uninstalled and since then my mouse and keyboard will
not work in Windows. They work OK when looking at System Setup prior to
entering Windows.

I have tried going back to "last known good configuration" but still my
keyboard and mouse will not work - they will not work in "Safe Mode" either.

I wondered if it was my USB ports at fault but my USB Wireless Adapter for
my network is recognised by the PC although I can do nothing with it since I
have no means of data entry!

Could anyone please give me a pointer as to where to go from here?

Many thanks,
Nige

**which I later uninstalled and since then my mouse and keyboard will
not work in Windows.** Did you even read the post? Try a
sfc/scannow.
