Hi,
My 5 yr old eMachines T2341 with XP Home (fully updated), was runnlng fine
until I installed Norton 360's "Add-On Pack", after which my PS2 Mouse
Stopped working.
I tried an USB Mouse and that worked fine. I figured the "Add-On Pack"
caused the problem and I could fix it later. A few days passed and my PS2
Keyboard stopped working. I don't have any other Keyboards, so I'm using the
on screen version.
I Uninstalled the "Add-On Pack" but the Mouse and Keyboard problems
remained. I tried reverting to an earlier restore point but Windows gave an
"unable to restore" message on all attempts.
Now I'm in a bind, I can't ckeck the BIOS settings without a keyboard and I
don't have an ERD (MS won't allow it), the eMachines came with a recovery CD
(reformat/reinstall only) no setup CD.
The reformat/reinstall takes several days on my dialup ISP, so that is a
last resort.
Any Ideas? >> Stay informed about: Mouse then Keyboard stopped working |

If you can't check the BIOS settings without a keyboard then you have a
hardware problem - after all there is no Windows when you're in the BIOS!
Try another PS/2 keyboard. If this does not work, repost in a hardware
newsgroup. >> Stay informed about: Mouse then Keyboard stopped working |

Pegasus,
The only way I know how to check/change the BIOS is by pressing the (F8?)
during booting, I can't do this without a functioning keyboard.

Exactly. This is why you need a different keyboard and why you need to
discuss your problem in a hardware newsgroup. It has nothing to do with
Windows! >> Stay informed about: Mouse then Keyboard stopped working |

No, F8 gets you the boot menu. Another key gets you into the BIOS
Setup, possibly the Delete, F1 or F10 key. You need to press this key
early in the Boot sequence, about the time you have a black/white screen
and it says" Press Del key to enter setup" on the lower right of the
screen. (for example) >> Stay informed about: Mouse then Keyboard stopped working |
