Post subject: MPEGII video plays in RealPlayer but not in Powerpoint 2003, why?
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>powerpoint (more info?)

I started with a MOV video and used the Any Video Converter program to
convert the file to a mpeg2 movie. The file now plays with RealPlayer, but
when I insert it into Powerpoint 2003 I only get a black box and it will not
play. Did I do something wrong or do I need to convert it to another file
format so that it will work properly?
Thanks, Perry

Hi

Just as a point of order, PowerPoint uses the mciplayer to play videos, not
real player or windows media player.

Anyway, the first thing I would check is if it is a file path length issue.
Create a folder on your C drive (e.g. C:\test), move the presentation & the
movie file to the folder then reinsert the video. Does it work now?

I would usually point you to the tutorials on the playsforcertain website,
but they appear to be down at the moment Sad
