Hi
I have Ultimate SP1, I keep a check on hard drive available space, following
a recent Format and reinstalling of all of my software I had 330 gig
available on my Hard drive of 450Gig.
This morning I ran the usual check after Disk Cleanup and CCleaner was run
and I have 308 Gig, that's over 20 gig gone, I did have a BSOD caused by a
faulty DVD program but the dmp file would have been removed with Disk
Cleaner or CCleaner.
Any ideas of what could have caused this?
thanks

I don't konw what would have caused a 22GB change in a short amount of time,
but I don't know when you did the prior check. Do a web archive search for
DX Hog Hunt. It will list every file and folder and the amount of real
estate occupied.
Also type %temp% in the run box and ctrl+A>shift+delete all temp files that
will delete. Check your recycle bin if you allow things deleted to be sent
there instead of using shift+delete as a default.
Best of luck,
CH

Just to add to that... the minimum size required by shadow storage is
300mb. You shouldn't make the size smaller than that. >> Stay informed about: Lost space on Hard drive |

Hi Chad
I checked yesterday, or if not it was definitely the day before, I have run
Disk Cleanup and Ccleaner, after
deleting everything in the %temp% folder.
I cannot find Disk Hog Hunter I think it has been withdrawn.

Hi--
Finding it's not easy but I found it using a web archive page going back to
2003. I'd consider it an oldie but a goodie. Just click this to download
and install:
http://web.archive.org/web/20031106023733/http://www.dvxp.com/Downloads/DXHogHuntSetup.msi
Best of luck,

Daniel --
I thought it might make you feel at ease if you saw the page where I got the
link for the MSI.exe . It's DVXP's former web page. The company was sold,
and it's mission changed, and even if I could read Dutch, you have to go to
the archive in order to download DX Hog Hunt, but the download and app do
work.
The parent page is here, and you scroll down to download the app:

Thanks Chad
I did a Kaspersky AV and Spyware scan on the download and there were no
problems.

Problem solved, I think.
Turns out my system ran a restore point four times yesterday,
these were listed as Scheduled Restore Points, I'm
not sure how they were scheduled, but I removed all but the latest point and
got back
over 40 Gig.
This is now something else I need to look into.
Thanks for your help, at least I got a useful program
out of it; IE Hog Hunt.
thanks and regards

A couple of weeks ago I too had disapearing space on my HD, I went from 90
Gigs free to 2 gigs free in 2 days. I cleaned up a lot of dead files and
cleared up 30 gigs, left the computer running over night and was completely
out of space the next day. I couldn't figure out why suddenly I would use
over 90 gigs of space in 2 days time, I checked my Home Server backups and
found that I had system files totaling 110 gigs on my system, checked some
of the older backups and they showed 14 gigs max. This all started after an
update from Microsoft I believe it was the November updates, I turned off
System Restore (no use having it on since I run Home Server) and bang I have
120 gigs free.. This is a bug that was put in by Microsoft in November..
Hopefully, for those who are having this problem also and don't run the Home
Server, they will fix it.. Hope this helps..
