WinXP SP3
I am trying to root out the vundo virus. I cannot get to the internet
because the DNS cache is "captive" ipconfig flush & view come bad, cannot
execute.
Is this part of the Vundo or another virus/malware I have to kill?
Anyone seen this before? Any help on eradicating?
I run Malware & it finds vundo, I remove it but it comes back.
Thx >> Stay informed about: Lost internet (virus) yet DHCP good |

What a/v software are you running? McAfee has a "Command Line" utility
that runs from Safe Mode; "Avast!" has a bootscan that might eliminate
the threat before the malware can take control.
Do a Google search for "fix vundo" or a similar search for good suggestions. >> Stay informed about: Lost internet (virus) yet DHCP good |

Check for instructions at Symantec/Norton, McAfee or any of the
reputable virus vendors; they should have manual removal instructions
and caveats. Obviously you have another computer to use as evidenced by
this post; use that and print/write down the methods you need.
With that virus, you might want to consider whether it's more efficient
for you to continue the fix, or backup and clean install from scratch.

And speaking of warning, ignore this dolt especially. He appears to be
a thief, pirate and plagairist, those being his better points.

THX group,
I have successfully virus cleaned my father-in-law's PC. However, still
cannot get to interent. He has many, many games on this system and I can see
many network "helpes" such as AOL, etc.
I can now flush DNS but ARP reset camoes back with helper dlls NAPMONTR.dll
and DOT3CFG.dll cannot be loaded.
Is this a wipe & rebuild or do I have a way to remove theses "helpers" (BTW,
my virus kileers may have done it). >> Stay informed about: Lost internet (virus) yet DHCP good |
