Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windowsxp>help_and_support (more info?)

I'm using IE 6 and encountering problems with images not appearing when
connecting to quite a number of sites. The pages open okay but some of the
images are replaced with a doubled lined placeholder with a small square in
the top left hand corner. Within this square is a tiny red square, tiny green
circle and a tiny blue triangle. In some cases the above situation occurs for
a second or two and then the image appears and in most others it does not

I've tried numerous solutions (cleaned out temp files and cookies, updated
scripting engine and DirectX) but to no avail. The os is XPSP3.

All help for a solution to this annoying problem would be appreciated.

Do you have ad blocking software?

No Leonard. The problem occurs with non-advertising images

Please provide a specific URL and image that exhibits this problem.

This is a typical URL Leonard,
http://www.rayovac.com/recharge/index.shtml
and a screen dump is:-

Sorry but can't insert the dump page or see any guidance on adding
attachments to posys. Have tried inserting the dump as a .doc and .htm file
but no go. When you access the URL it's the top image that is missing - the
others appear okay.

Is there some way to post an image or e-mail it ?

Like most of us, I read posts in plaintext and do not open attachments.
Neither do I accept email. All for security.

Near the top of that page is an image of a young girl aiming a digital
camera at herself. The image uses Flash, so either you are blocking
Flash or you have a problem with Flash.

Leonard, sorry for the delayed acknowledgement of your reply, occasioned by a
monitor crash. Living in a semi-rural location a purchase of a new monitor
had to await a visit to the big smoke.

Would you kindly indicate what feature of the image suggested Flash was
involved? I guess I now need to take up the error I'm encountering with the
Flash people.

My intentions with either an attachment or e-mail were honourable but I can
appreciate your cautious stance.
