I am trying to do an org chart with hyperlinks. I have a made a few
hyperlinks and link them to slides in the presentation but when I go to view
slide presentation and click on a link nothing happens. Also the Show and
Return box is shaded out and does not give me an opportunity to check the
box.

Dan, I believe that Show and Return is only a viable choice when you
hyperlink to a custom show. Otherwise, hyperlinks are a one-way proposition.
If you want to automatically return from whence you came after clicking a
hyperlink:

1. Create custom shows, even if they contain only one slide.

2. Hyperlink to an altogether different presentation. When that show ends,
you would be returned to the original one.

It's a bug in PPT2007's SmartArt graphics, which have replaced the old OrgChart
and diagrams in earlier versions.

One workaround: Create your chart but don't add hyperlinks yet; then after
your chart's done, copy it, then use Paste Special on the Home tab to paste it
back as an Enhanced Metafile. Ungroup this and apply hyperlinks as needed.

Another workaround is to create rectangles that you place over the shapes of
your smartart. Make them invisible by filling with a color but 100%
transparent and no outline. Insert the hyperlink to the "invisible"
rectangles.
