Depending on where you copy/paste from and how you go about it, you may
get either a picture in PowerPoint or an OLE (Object Linking and
Embedding) object.
When you doubleclick an object in PPT (and in most Windows programs) it
launches the program that originally created the object (in your case
Paint).
When you doubleclick a picture in PPT, you get the formatting dialog
box.
The exact sequence of steps, and where you copy/pasted from at each
step, and the PPT version will have an effect on what you get too.
