Nothing wrong with Home Basic.

If the video card has dual outputs the
desktop may have flipped over to the secondary display for whatever reason.
Try installing updated drivers from the graphics card manufacturer (the
reinstallation is the point of the exercise, not the driver version). If the
problem persists you might have a hardware issue.
